JAPANESE BREAKFAST / LUNA LI 9.10.21
Words and Photos By Adam Gerhold
On Friday, Japanese Breakfast played their second of two sold out nights at Royale in Boston. This was my second show back and I am on a roll! The crowd, the bands, the energy, everything is turned up to 11! It feels so good.
Luna Li opened the show with a super fun performance. Nobody smiles more on stage than Luna Li. Her indie pop jams and energy was so infectious and we were all vibing so much.
Japanese Breakfast took the stage after what felt like only seconds after Luna Li’s performance, and they pack such a punch of emotion. Everything about the performance rules so much. Michelle Zauner is such an incredible artist and her energy, voice, presence, and fashion, are so captivating. Needless to say, the entire band is incredible and they moved from song to song so fluidly. And let’s not forget to mention the stunning light setup by the badass, Kat Borderud. The lights managed to only enhance the entire performance and made it an experience more than a concert. Walking around the venue everyone was really into it, dancing with each other, dancing alone, smiling under masks and with their eyes fixated on one of the best performances you could wish to see.
Please go pick up Japanese Breakfast’s newest full length, Jubilee, and make sure to catch them on the rest of tour where they aren’t sold out.
