TIGERS JAW / JOY AGAIN / HURRY 8.27.21

We are back at it! After 17 long and trying months, I got to see and document some kick ass live music at one of my favorite local spots, The Sinclair. When the show initially got announced for Saturday the 28th I was so excited and then immediately bummed since I had a wedding scheduled for that day. So when a second show was added for Friday, I jumped!

Waiting in line with my camera, vax card and ID out, masked up, the excitement that it was all real was almost too much. The line that grew increasingly longer as we got closer to door time, was all vibing on the same level of excitement and nerves. “This is really happening, right?”

Pennsylvania’s, Hurry, hit the stage first and put on a great opening performance with some new material and some old favorites to get the crowd warmed up. Their stage banter is pretty great too.

A quick transition and Joy Again, a band that I had not heard prior, hit the stage, and really killed it. I love seeing a band for the first time and getting really excited by their sound. Songs ranged from upbeat bangers to slower moody pieces. A definite crowd favorite and enough stoke to provoke a friendly push pit. Get it!

In what felt like no time at all, there we were, Tigers Jaw hit the stage with the opening track of their latest release, and an album of the year contender, I Won’t Care How You Remember Me. They dipped in and out of new tracks and old and the vibes were flowing. Tigers Jaw rule live for 2 reasons: Their live performance is always packed and paced so well with killer hits, and their energy and excitement transfers into their set and into the crowd so well. It’s palpable. They really know how to turn it up and make the us feel connected like we were at a party with all the homies. Something I think we can all appreciate right now!

Make sure to pick up their new record and see them on tour now!
