Spencer Sutherland brought the “In His Mania” tour to Boston last Saturday at Brighton Music Hall, and he left no energy behind. This is the singer’s third headline tour, and Spencer certainly knows how to command the room.
Opening the show was singer-songwriter Jordy, whose second full-length album was just released this past Friday 4/21. Jordy brought an incredible joyful energy to the crowd and played some of his most popular songs, many of which the crowd seemed to be familiar with.
When Spencer finally made his way to the stage, you could almost forget that you were in a room as small as Brighton Music Hall. The stage production and lighting was completely custom and absolutely stunning for a room of its size. Starting as a silhouette in front of a giant LED star, Spencer came jumping out to the front of the stage and didn’t stop dancing for his entire set. With a style that could remind people of Harry Styles or Stephen Sanchez, Spencer’s vibrant outfit and tightly choreographed dance routine did not disappoint.
Spencer started out with songs like “Everybody,” “Jealousy,” and “Paranoia.” Towards the middle of the set, he made his way to the back of the venue to play an acoustic song amongst the crowd, a nice intimate break from the high energy of the rest of his set. He closed out his set with “Outrun The Feeling” before returning for a two song encore of “Out of Love” and “Outer Space.”
Spencer’s talent and energy is infectious, and I highly recommend checking him out either on the last few stops of his tour or at a date in the future!
