Sunday night I was witness to the final day of the end of the world. Motionless In White, with support from the great Knocked Loose, After the Burial, and Alphawolf, ended the massive Touring The End of the World Tour at MGM Music Hall in Boston.
The lines, yes lines, smelling the from the Sausage Guy, wrapped around both side of MGM, in the cold and rain. Black on black on black, metal shirts, leather, fishnets, torn denim, and full of an electric buzz that only energized and expanded feverishly through the night.
High energy and explosive performances from Alphawolf and After The Burial, created the perfect spark to ignite the crowd for the heavy intensity to follow.
Knocked Loose, named, “The World’s Most Dangerous Band,” by Alphawolf, tore a hole through the stage and into the dirt and rubble below. A dark vibration, unrelenting pulsing, flashes, catastrophic audible assaults, a pit. Despair. The electricity was palpable. The hairs were standing up all over. Eyes were wider, senses stronger. This is Knocked Loose.
Motionless In White is anything but motionless. The utter audacity to create the kind of ownership that Motionless In White create during a performance is near impossible to describe accurately. It’s both chaotic and senseless, and beautifully focused. It’s a complete package. A real experience. A real show. A metal, hardcore, punk rock circus. Flames, sparks, fear, beauty, warmth. The crowd was waves. Bodies flowing, below the surface, on the tips of fingers, the taste in the back of your throat, the memory you forgot to remember, it’s all part of the package.
It feels so frantic, automatic, a collapsing paradigm.
