American singer songwriter LP took over the House of Blues for a chill Saturday evening. Fans gathered early on, bringing along signs, flags and gifts for the singer, walking around with red merch bags with LP’s initials.
Kicking off the evening was indie singer Nick Leng, with a consistently mellow set that mesmerized the crowd. Leng’s music is soft, with some hints of jazz in it that pick up the energy in just the right spots. With tracks like “My Mind is a Mess in The Morning” and “Drivers”, the songwriter set the stage perfectly for the rest of the night.
The wait felt long for fans in between sets, with the crowd chanting “LP, LP” after every background song was over. Shortly after 9pm, the lights went down and the band slowly took their spots in the shadows. LP would take the stage in front of a full house of screaming fans, kicking right into “When We Touch”, still in the dark.
