LINGUA IGNOTA 5.11.2022

Photos and Words By Adam W Gerhold

As the lights dimmed down at The Sinclair right before Kristen Hayter took the stage I overheard someone say they already had tears in their eyes. And if I had to guess I would say by the end of the night a majority of people probably had the same tears welling up in their own eyes. Hayter’s performance was visually, emotionally, and physically heavy. at the stage was dawned with a handful of pulsing lights and Hayter moved from a raised platform, to the piano, to the floor of the stage, to the floor of the venue, and a far stairwell that lead to the upper level of The Sinclair.

Hayter is essentially a force of nature. The performance was more of an experience and a type of cleansing, than just a live musical performance. The atmosphere was dense, the crowd was entranced, someone passed out, and everything and everyone melded into one combined entity.
