AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS / DIE SPITZ / GYMSHORTS - BOSTON, MA 11.4.2023
Coverage by Adam W Gerhold
Amyl And The Sniffers finished out their US Tour at Roadrunner in Boston on November 4 with support from Gymshorts and Die Spitz, and it was a party.
Amy Taylor is a superhero. Amyl And The Sniffers as a whole is a force of nature, and their credit to the experience leaves nothing to be desired, but it is Amy Taylor, the centerpiece, and the tornado to the storm. Her delivery, ownership of the stage and crowd, and her unabashed vulnerability is impossible to not gawk at.
As big of a venue as Roadrunner is, the spot felt like a small punk club. Flash firing, Amy Taylor on and off the stage, in the crowd, the surfers pouring over the barricade. We were sweaty. Ears were ringing. The floor was wet and sticky, there was a haze in the air, smells of weed, people screaming, smiling, dancing, spinning. This is why we’re here. This is why we do this. Despite our numerous age differences, backgrounds, or experiences, we share this moment. Nostalgia or something that may feel like it. It’s something. It’s punk.
”If anyone falls down you help them up. Don’t touch anybody that doesn’t want to be touched. Get ready.”
