Ty Segall and the Freedom Band took the stage at Royale in Boston on the first of this month in support of their incredible new record, Three Bells, along with openers: the most intriguing and original Sharpie Smile.

Ty Segall and his Freedom Band took the stage at Royale very nonchalantly. They opened the set with the two openers from the new record, Three Bells. Everything from the stage setup, to the lights, and movements on stage, Ty’s unmatched shredding, and the incredible sound, was perfect. Ty positioned himself as far to the right of the stage as you can get without being non-visible, leaving the stage open and present with the band which had their own spotlight. Ty would saunter about and disappear to really let the band get into it.
The atmosphere was dense with the electric feeling of buzzing, static, and untamed energy. The crowd hummed and swayed with excitement and with groove. The lights danced upon the band and the crowd. The music washed over us like an electric blanket. You can kind oof get lost in it all. It becomes less about individual parts and more about the whole. It was beautiful, raw, real. Wow.
