EMOTIONAL ORANGES 3.11.2023

LA Based R&B duo Emotional Oranges brought their Pulp Fiction Tour to Boston on 3/11. Their unique name proved to be a fitting one, as they filled Boston’s Royale with vibrancy and passion that night. Like the simple moniker’s the two go by, “A” and “V”, their stage set up was minimal. With only an LED screen, framing lights, and a backing track to support their performance, the two singers were free to dance around and utilize the whole stage. This, paired with the lack of barricade separating the crowd from the stage, promoted intimate interaction between the artist and their fans the whole night. Reaching his hands into the crowd, A connected with his screaming supporters. Meanwhile, V swayed smoothly across the stage, showing off both her impressive moves and her looks.

Emotional Oranges makes the kind of mellow, groovy music that makes you want to move your body, fall in love, have a main character moment, or all of those things at once. And when they began their hit single “West Coast Love,” the crowd did just that. Both performers brought impressive vocals to the stage, but V proved to be the star of the night, showing off both powerful belts and delicate runs.

If there is one word that describes the show Emotional Oranges puts on, its chemistry. Though the relationship between the two singers remains officially ambiguous, their performance made it clear that there is something special between the two. Some choreographed dance breaks brought the heat, as the duo swayed passionately, while other moments were more subtle. Either way, their interactions with each other felt like a scene out of a romantic, coming-of-age film, and every amorous gesture the singers made were met with raucous cheers.

Mystery has always followed the art and performance of Emotional Oranges, and perhaps their intrigue is what keeps fans coming back for more. However, it's no secret that the duo puts on a show worthy of anyone's attention, and the Pulp Fiction Tour they brought to Boston was a movie-like masterpiece.
