The crowd at Royale in Boston on Wednesday night kept it surprisingly cool for close to ninety-five percent of the evening while New York industrial layered punk outfit, Uniform, and Los Angeles dark wave duo, Drab Majesty, took the stage in support of the headliner and shoegaze / blackmetal hybrid-monster, Deafheaven.
With their new album in tow, Deafheaven careened through new and old songs from Sunbather, New Bermuda, and of course their latest and most dynamic release to date, Ordinary Corrupt Human Love.
The tension and adrenaline fueled by the intense and high energy presentation of front man, George Lasage, finally came to a boiling point as the crowd erupted to a blistering performance of “Dream House” with a rush to the front and stage dive fiasco, leaving the band in a state of bewilderment and elation, the house staff unprepared and unamused, and the fans in untamed chaos and gratitude for an experience only Deafheaven can deliver.
