Last Monday night Boston witnessed an unforgettable sold-out show from Daniel Caesar at MGM Music Hall at Fenway. The anticipation in the air was very visible through the eager fans awaiting the headlining performance. Daniel delivered an emotionally charged and incredible performance which will be a core memory for those lucky enough to get tickets.

Between the vocals, beautiful lighting, and even more beautiful acoustics, Daniel created such an intimate atmosphere despite the venue being a capacity of 5000. Many artists fail to make shows as intimate as Daniel Caesar was able to do. Despite the disclaimer that he wasn’t feeling his best, we surely would not be able to tell because his vocals were just as good live, if not better than his recorded work. The crowd could feel his determination to give his all.

The setlist included a mix of Daniel Caesar’s newest album along with some of his older tracks. He showcased his discography perfectly and even included his infamous cover of Kanye West’s “Streetlights” which is titled “Streetcar” on Caesar’s streaming platforms. My personal favorite, also the final song before his phenomenal encore, was “Always”. Unlike many artists are able to do, Daniel Caesar never fails to make me tear up at his shows. There is undeniable talent and soul in his lyrics and voice.

As the night neared its end Daniel thanked the audience and expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support. The crowd reciprocated his thankfulness as they clapped and chanted. This night has left a lasting impression on me and i’m sure thousands of others.  Daniel has set the bar high for the future R&B concerts in Boston.
