The balance of light and dark, beauty and chaos, depths and soaring heights, when combined precisely and above all, organically, has never been executed better than by Alcest. The French post-blackened metal band opened their North American tour in Boston, promoting their latest record, Les Chants de l'Aurore, with support from the incredible Kaelan Mikla, and the heaviest of heavy, Mono.
Alcest created a space that immersed us all into the cover art of their latest record. The stage dawned with golden birds, an illuminated moon, greenery, and lights that danced and brought everything closer and closer. Audibly, visually, tickling the inner depths of my soul, my heart, my memories. Alcest took us on a journey. An escape from the horrors of current life but also a deep dive into our own recesses.
