FUTURE ISLANDS - BOSTON, MA 6.19.24

Coverage by Adam W Gerhold

Future Islands kicked off the first date of their North American Tour supporting their wonderful new record, People Who Aren’t There Anymore, at Roadrunner in Boston on June 19th. The entertaining and pulse raising duo of Ed Shcrader’s Music Beat opened the show in half light and half darkness. Intentionally? Who cares? It was awesome. Driving drum hits and fuzzed out bass riffs, flashes of light, yelling, moving, confused, excited.

ED SCRADER’S MUSIC BEAT

Future Islands took the stage to a massive eruption followed by a second massive eruption as they opened the set with the opening track off their new record, “King Of Sweden.”
Frontman Samuel T Herring danced and ran across the stage with an excitement and enthusiasm that was so addictive I found myself dancing throughout the photo pit (respectfully). The stage setup and lights created a beautiful spacious atmosphere. The vibe in the room was exciting. I saw people smiling, cheering, dancing, laughing, throughout the night. The energy was high. No one stood without at least a foot or a hand tapping. We were alive tonight.
